It use to be that as business owners we would go to business mixers and hand out our business cards. We would hand them out to people we knew or would meet socially or casually, creating word of mouth buzz about the services we offer, there was a lot of Smoozing involved. Unfortunately, for some of us who can be extremely shy it was an extremely stressful thing to have to do. Now with the advent of social networking sites you can get the word out about our businesses much easier and much more effectively and without all the awkwardness of having to attend a business mixer (unless you like that sort of thing). Social network marketing can help you compete in business on a more level playing field. It can help to put your businesses marketing on amore level playing field without the high dollar marketing cost, as almost all of these sites are free to join.

Sites like Twitter give you the chance to get your name out there and generate a following with short 140 character messages called Tweets. There is also Twitter getter, which although specific to Tweeter can draw customers to your web site once you have a following. Knowing how to use these sites effectively is important for generating the business you want.

One thing to remember about social network marketing is that it takes time and diligence. If you are expecting instant results you maybe disappointed; however if you are willing to put in that time you can see an increase in business as your name recognition increases.

Another key to social network marketing are your “Tags” and or “Key Words”. These are the one or more word items that put you in the search engines such as Google and Yahoo as well as other search engines. They are the little snippets that draw people to your post when they are using search engines to find what they are looking for. It is best to keep your string of words short with commas in between each string of words and to use tags that most effectively describe your business or services. Use the tag words that most describe what you are trying to achieve first then use other word that can be picked up as well in the search engines. For example if you were an electrical contactor who had just written a blog post on a social networking site your key or tag words might include Local Contactor, Coachella Valley, Electrical, Repairs, Energy, Savings,- etcetera. Using tags or key words effectively can help your business greatly. These word briefly tell a person about the typeof services they offer and where these services are offered.
The one thing to keep in mind with blog’s is that you may have to put in the web address to your site as opposed to a link. It all depends on the capabilities of the sites blogging features.

Social Network Marketing can be very effective in marketing your company. It can be very cost efficient. It may take you a bit more time to see results. It is the wave of the future. And one band wagon you can’t afford to miss.
